Frankenstein or the modern promethgus is a
Gothic horror story by Mary Shelley,
published in England 1818. Frankenstein, a
scientist, discovers how to bring inanimate
matter to life, and creates a man-monster.
When Frankenstein fails to provide a mate to
satisfy the creature's human emotions, it
seeks revenge by killing Frankenstein's
brother and bride. Frankenstein dies in an
attempt to destroy his creation.
